In the morning of December 12th, the opening ceremony of the 6th session of “Chinese Bridge” Winter Camp for the Confucius Institute at DUT was held in Longyan Hall, Mingde Building in FAFU. Prof.Zheng Baodong, Vice President of FAFU and other relevant personnel from Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, International College and CI at DUT, together with volunteers, attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Vice President Zheng Baodong, on behalf of FAFU, welcomed all the campers and expressed his hope that they would make the best of their stay in China to experience the profound Chinese traditional culture in depth so that they could make contributions to strengthening the friendship between the youth of China and Africa. NomusaNdlangisa then delivered an address on behalf of the campers. She said that she would cherish this opportunity to learn more Chinese and Chinese culture and strive to become the envoy of China-South Africa friendship and promote the relations between the youth of China and South Africa upon returning to her motherland.
Since 2014, more than 100 teachers and students from DUT have come to FAFU through the“ Chinese Bridge”. This year, altogether 20 young South African students were invited to Fujian for a 14-day winter camp to acquire the comprehensive understanding of Fujian and Fuzhou, to experience life in a Chinese-speaking environment and to study Chinese traditional culture.
